Calling all Gen X, and Gen Y! An outdoor summer extravaganza custom-made just for Gen X and beyond, it’s the summer to re-live the party of your youth, so put down those avocado and bacon toasties, listen up, and grab some tickets now! Hootie & The Blowfish, Collective Soul & Edwin McCain Bring their Summer Camp With Trucks tour to Jones Beach on Thursday, September 5th, 2024. That’s right, some of the top bands of the 90s will be bringing their greatest hits out for a summer party like you haven’t had in a quarter-century! Plus, it's Hootie’s first outing since 2019, and they are absolutely rabid to be playing again!
“Basically overnight, our lives changed when Cracked Rear View did what it did – and yet as we quickly moved from vans and college bars to tour buses and arenas, not much else changed with how we approached making music and sharing it with our fans,” reflects Bryan. “Edwin McCain told someone at the time that touring with us felt like summer camp with trucks… and that’s exactly how we want next year to feel, too. We can’t wait for you to join us!”
During their time as USC students in the mid-1980s, Jim "Soni" Sonefeld, Dean Felber, Darius Rucker, and Mark Bryan formed the band, Hootie & The Blowfish. The trio has won two Grammys and compiled 16 tracks that have entered the Billboard singles charts across their six studio albums. After a hiatus beginning in 2008, the band is returned with a 2019 full reunion tour and their first new album in fourteen years, Imperfect Circle.
According to Mark Bryan, “we’d started adding original material to our repertoire,” he recalled about the band's time just after leaving USC. “Our songs went over well, so we decided to see if we could make a career out of it. Even if we hadn’t had a hit, I know we’d still be making music today because it’s exactly what we want to be doing.”
In 2024, Hootie's first album, Cracked Rear View, will mark its 30th anniversary. The South Carolina college band became famous after hitting the charts with singles like "Let Her Cry," "Hold My Hand," and "I Only Wanna Be With You." The album was certified Double Diamond and went on to sell over 20 million copies, making it among the top 10 best-selling albums in all music history
Collective Soul hails from Stockbridge, Georgia, USA, and is formed of singer Ed Roland, rhythm guitarist Dean Roland, bassist Will Turpin, drummer Johnny Rabb, and lead guitarist Jesse Triplett, they are now located in Atlanta. Collective Soul published their 1993 album Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid. The album's first hit "Shine" was played on regional radio that year, catapulting the band from relative obscurity to fame. When big label Atlantic Records re-released the album in 1994, the single "Shine" shot to the top of the Mainstream Rock and Mainstream Top 40 charts, becoming a smash hit throughout the country.
